This week on the podcast we talked about our shadow sides. Some highlights, along with a question around the definition of blinder (yes, we now know that they are the two flaps attached to a horse’s bridle to keep it moving in the right direction! Noted!)
I talk about what blinders we still have about ourselves in our 40s… Nat prefers the more Jungian language of “shadow sides!”
I share two of what I believe are my shadow qualities. Nat reframes one of them, my chameleon-like tendency in a group, to be a strength.
I reframe Nat’s tendency to walk away from conversations as having a positive sense of personal boundaries. We talk about multiplicities and embracing the many parts of ourselves.
We land on a reframe we can all take on: “Name the need I have for the self I am today!”
Pretty good nugget, right? Who doesn’t want to be seen?
And remember the sausage pie from last week? We tried it! Here’s Nat’s version.
Here’s mine. Back to you Darlene, are we close to your vision?
And here’s a new one of Nat’s recipes for you to try:
Breakfast for Dinner Lentil Pancakes
Soak 1/2 cup of red lentils for an hour in water so that they swell.
Add to your blender:
The lentils, rinsed
1 ripe banana
½ cup of large flake oats
1 cup of almond milk (or any milk you have on hand)
1 tsp of cinnamon
½ tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking powder
1 egg
Blend till smooth and then cook over medium heat as you would any other pancake recipe — flip when they start to bubble — and enjoy with syrup or other breakfast for dinner toppings!
Try them out and send us a pic!
Happy weekend!
